BRITISH CITIZENSHIP

British nationality law is one of the most complex areas of UK law due to the UK’s historical relationship with many other countries in the world. In some cases it will be necessary to trace back several generations to identify whether you are a British Citizen or are entitled to British Citizenship.

The most common way of obtaining British Citizenship is ‘Naturalisation’.

Marriage

This category allows spouse or a Civil Partner of a British National who has spent at least three (3) years in the UK and has Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Registration of a child

This category allows a child born in the UK to register as a British National.

Standard Requirement

This category allows applicant who have spent at least five (5) years in the UK and held Indefinite Leave to Remain for one (1) year.
